처음엔 그저 케이팝 데몬헌터스가 재밌다고만 생각했던 외국인들 내용도

재밌고 노래도 좋다 안 무멋지다 하며 그저 가볍게 즐기는 줄만 알았습니다.

그런데 지금은 그 관심이 거의 집착 수준입니다. 단순한 팬심 정도개권이

했던 그들은 어느새 국립중앙 박물관 굿즈샵을 털기 시작하더니 지금은 아예

고대한국의 설화와 민속 신앙을 논문 쓰듯 연구 중인데요. 조선계비의

외형은 왜 그렇게 생겼는지 산실령의 역할은 무엇인지 단군 신화에서

호랑이는 왜 도망쳤는지까지 이젠 완전 한국을 학문으로 연구하는 수준이

되었죠. 혹시 시즌 2가 나올지 몰라 기다리는 동안 17번 혹은 18번째

정주행을 하며 한편 한편 곱씹어 봅니다. SNS에는 케이팝 데몬헌터스

고증 분석이라는 주제가 큰 인기로 여을 정도인데요. 등장인물의 복장

무대 배경 대사 하나까지 일시 정지하고 분석에 들어가기도 합니다.

심지어 미국의 한 미술사 전공 강사는 직접 케팝 데몬헌터스에 숨겨진 한국

문화 상징을 뽑아 영상으로 제작해 유튜브에 올렸습니다. 케팝 데몬터스의

진짜 매력은 그걸 알고 보게 되는 순간이 콘텐츠는 단순한 드라마를 넘어

전통과 현대가 맞다 하나의 미약적 해석이 되죠.

minutes into the film, we're taken

into the far pass where we see a trio

of women who are introduced as the

first ever demon hunters. And what

immediately stood out to me is that

these ladies are definitely dressed

in some pretty shaman outfits. See,

their outfits and weapons are colorful

in a very specific way that actually

reminds me of a couple very specific

pieces of art. First are these shaman

paintings made by the artist Park Song

Quang. Now, obviously I don't

know if the creative team on K-pop Demon

Hunters actually looked at his art

while making this movie, but I

wouldn't be surprised if they

did because the vibrancy of the

colors, the designs of the outfits, and

the flow of the subjects really does

bear a strong resemblance to

Park's work. Second is This Bad Boy, a

genre painting from around the 18th

century called Dancing Together

with two Swords, which shows a

traditional Korean sword ants and

martial art called Guomu, which dates

back to around 660 AD. Hiding in the

background right here. Stop. Yeah,

see that painting in the back there? It's

actually an extremely famous

design called E Woodle Bungle or

painting of the sun, moon, and the five

peaks. Start out seeing it behind

Roomy alone and then we see it as the

backdrop for the entire group and

then as the main promotional material

for the single. That's interesting

for a couple of reasons. But perhaps

the most interesting is that historically

artwork with this composition, the

sun, moon, and the mountains with the

river was used exclusively behind

the throne of kings in the Josen

dynasty. So, naturally, it's

really interesting and cool to see how

often Roomy is depicted completely

alone against this backdrop. After all,

as it states in the movie, she's popstar

royalty. It's thought that the

demons in this movie are based off of

Dokabi, Korean goblins that are

often described as looking very similar

to or able to disguise themselves

as humans, which aligns pretty well

with what we see that the demons in

this movie can do. But here's the

thing. From what I could find of old

traditional art of Dokabi, which

honestly is kind of hard to find a lot

of, I couldn't find any that had these

really cool distinctive patterns

on them like they do in the movie. That

is until I found this. This is a wood

block print of Dokabi from the

Korean artist Oun which made art that

was primarily influenced by

shaminism and good. That's right. The

same good we talked about like 5 minutes

ago. Throughout the movie we see that

Ginu, the mastermind behind the SJ boys,

which is the demon boy band, has two

animal companions, a tiger and a magpie.

Throughout the movie, we see them

act as messengers and also absolute

pals. Just sweet little guys. But

what you might not know is that these

guys are actually a reference to a

famous Korean genre of or genre

paintings called Hojak, which is a

word that literally translates to tiger

magpie paintings. Oftentimes, the

magpie in these paintings is thought

of as a messenger and a bringer of

good fortune. And the tiger was often

thought to ward off evil spirits, acting

as a sort of protector.

하는데요. 국립중앙 박물관 상품과는 평일에도 인산 인해를 이루고 외국인

관광객들은 호랑이와 까치를 싸기 위해 관광 중 하루를 아낌없이 투자합니다.

외국인들 사이에서 호랑이와 까치, 산과 용 같은 전통 문양이 정말

한국스럽고 독특하다는 찬사가 쏟아치고 있는데요. 단순히 디자인만 한국의

미약이 담겨 예쁜 것이 아니라 손수건부터 충전기까지 무엇하나 쓸모

없이 만들어진 제품이 없다는 것도 인기 이유입니다. 까치와 호랑이 관련

모든 제품이 전량 품절되고 8차 예약도 마감되어 11월 이후에나

제입고가 가능하다는데요. 심지어 서울시 캐릭터 해치와 친구들에

포함된 주작, 청룡, 현목, 백호까지 인기로 얻을 정도입니다. 아무리

싫다고 부정해 봐도 지금이 현상을 외면하기는 불가능합니다. 전 세계가

캐대언에 빠져드는이 순간 거부할 수 없는 힘이 모두를 끌어당기고

있으니까요. 보고 또 보고 아무리 따라해도 질리지 않는 사람들 이제는

제발 소편 좀 만들어 달라면 난리가 나는데요. 넷플릭스 게시판은 물론

SNS, 유튜브 댓글창, 헤외 포럼까지 캐대언의 소편을 요구하는

목소리가 폭주하고 있습니다. 리뷰 전문 유튜버 콜리더띵스는 기다림을

지쳐 아주 정주를 놓을 정도인데요. 팬들은 주인공 루미의 출생의 비밀과

루미 부모에 금기된 사랑 이야기, 그리고 아직 제대로 밝혀지지 않은

헌트릭스 결성의 비하인드 스토리 반드시 완성해야 하는 전설의 황금
